More than just staff at Animal Medical Center…
One thing you’ll see when you visit Animal Medical Center of Lubbock is that we have lots of furry friends hanging around. Some are here permanently as part of our staff and some are just here before they find a forever home.

McFlyChair Warmer
The day after Margo passed, this little guy was brought in by a good samaritan client. He had no home and was ill. We chose to adopt him believing Margo sent him to us! He recovered quickly and has been with us every since. Named McFly (nickname Nugget), this little guy loved to terrorize McLovin and has now moved on to McMuffin. Ironically, he also has taken Margo’s duty of warming the microscope chair!

McMuffinCEO McLovin Industries
Mcmuffin is a Sphynx cat and has no hair! She came along soon after we lost Mclovin. We instantly fell in love and she has been with us every since. She is very sweet and loves attention. She has taken up residence at Mclovin’s post on the dryer under blankets! But you will see her roaming around from time to time.

PaulBlood Donor Dog aka our Super Hero
Paul is our present blood donor dog. He started his position in 2023, after being adopted from Lubbock Animal Services.
He has undergone extensive testing to ensure his safety and each recipient’s safety. He is a universal donor, meaning his blood is safe to be given to any dog, regardless of the recipient’s blood type. He is also screened routinely for the common tick diseases as well as for heartworms to ensure that no disease is transmitted during a transfusion. Additionally, we screen Paul’s blood to ensure that he is able to maintain normal organ function and has adequate red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells.
He has a happy life here and gets lots of attention. Our kennel staff routinely exercises him, plays with him, and works on basic obedience with him.
Once done with his service time, he will be placed for adoption into a loving home. Until then, we will continue to give him lots of love and treats for the invaluable service he renders to so many of our patients desperately in need of a blood transfusion.

McLovinMcFly’s keeper
McLovin was one of our clinic cats. He was very friendly and often visited clients and patients while they waited in exam rooms. His favorite thing to do was to curl up on the dryer underneath a mound of blankets. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2024.

MargoClinic Cat
Margo was found by a previous technician in 2008. Sadly she passed away unexpectedly in late 2019. We miss her demands of water from our pharmacy sink and her warming our clinic chair in front of the microscope. RIP Margo!
